Alone - The Darkness is a visual novel, but what is an Visual Novel ?

Visual novels are in principle - as the name implies - Novels, which can be read on the Computer (or more recently also on Smartphones, etc.). They mostly consist of text, Pictures, Background Music and Speech output.

They are considered to be Computer-Games, since the reader can (indirectly) intervene indirectly in the Action, by choosing at certain points which Decision the Protagonist makes, which can influence the further course of the Action and thus lead to different outputs of the Story. Visual Novels are a Genre that is relatively unknown in the West. This is why Visual Novels are often (wrongly) sorted to well-known Computer Game Genres in the West, such as Adventure Games, Dating Sims, Anime-Games, etc. Games of these Genres, however, would NOT be Vsual Novels - although there are, of course, cross-game Games. In fact, most of the Visual Novels are compared with Novellas rather than with Computer-Games (known in the West).

The contents of the acts are as diverse as in the Case of Novellas. A crime novel with copper engravings as background drawings can be just as much a visual novel as a love story with comic drawings. In fact, most Visual Novels have Manga-style drawings and have romantic content - but this is by no means a must. 

In this Case Alone - The Darkness is based on the Survival Horror Genre. In the most Visual Novels also called VN's that fall into romance or love  genre, it is usually the one or more Person (s) in a Storyline to find something interesting and follow that which is probably because the Humans as an Individual by Nature Is curious.

Short Story / Background overview: 

In Alone - The Darkness, the Protagonist does not play the role of one or more people as usual, but controls & decides the entire Game. An arbitrarily selected number of Persons "8 in the number" get a Message in different ways which leads you all at the same Day at the same Time to the same Place due to the human Curiosity. The Journey takes all Barticipants to a place whose past has been very important in the early 1960s and is still a great Mystery until now.

All Characters are fictitious and nothing of the Characters are in any context with an living Person - If there are connections to neighbors or friends, this is a coincidence, since all data are fictitious for the protagonists.
